A proactive approach to develop trust and confidence
It’s a form of corporate common courtesy to reach out to the people who will
be initially affected by our work, to introduce our business to them, to keep
them informed on what we are doing and when we will finish a project.
By creating these communicative and collaborative channels, our site teams
can look to offer skills training, job opportunities, career advice to local
schools, offer apprenticeships, introduce and hold ‘meet the buyer’ events to
encourage local contractors and SMEs to participate in our project.
Within our Joseph Gallagher-wide business, we recognise that social value
is more than skills and employment, it is having a positive impact on the
communities we serve, leaving a legacy of true value and supporting the local
infrastructure.
Our extensive experience working with clients on several flagship
developments across the country gives us a huge insight into the benefits
and positive impact that we can provide.
We are proud of our track record in successfully delivering social value
initiatives and work closely with principal contractors in line with their CSR
requirements. In addition to this, we look to work with local stakeholders
such as schools to ensure that our ethos of positively impacting the areas in
which we work, will continue across the lifecycle of the development.
We will engage with the local job centres, charities and local authorities
within the local areas of a project to provide opportunities to those seeking
work.
By applying our technology, we can adapt our internal rostering and
wellbeing platform enabling us to select our resources based on their
proximity to the site. This not only provides a contract work opportunity,
but also considers the commuting factors of the individual and the
environmental impact of travel over distance.
At JGl, we recognise that social value is so important to our current and
future work opportunities, it is becoming a secondary licence to operate.
We are firm believers that it is the right thing to do. We have recently built
relationships with Government Schemes and Organisations to provide more
for our local communities.
As a Group our individual subsidiaries are actively involved in many
charitable initiatives across our industries and sectors. Helping local
charities and initiatives ensures that we are giving back to those that need
it most and supporting beneficial campaigns that aim to implement positive
change.
