The Snowdonia Visual Impact
Project is a landmark National
Grid initiative aimed at reducing
the visual impact of existing
electricity infrastructure within
Snowdonia National Park.
As part of the solution, a new
section of cable route is being
constructed underground using
a tunnel boring machine (TBM)
launched from the Garth Shaft.
Scope of works
Our business has a long history

operations. For this project, our

rotational shift basis, aligning
with production requirements
for continuous TBM excavation.

Hochtief with the right people

Integrated labour
planning
Our resourcing team works
closely with Hochtief planners
to adjust labour levels in line
with TBM (and project) progress,
mechanical downtime, and
programme changes.
We delivered consistent, high
quality, tunnelling labour
enabling Hochtief to maintain
steady progress on the
underground cable tunnel.

Hochtief’s shaft and tunnelling
teams, demonstrating strong
collaboration and professional
standards.
