Ground conditions can vary dramatically from site
to site; access is often restricted, safety risks must
be managed proactively and programme pressures
are ever-present.
At Joseph Gallagher Ltd, we bring deep
technical expertise across all major tunnelling
methodologies:
Traditional hand excavation: For projects
requiring precision or working in sensitive
environments where mechanised methods are
unsuitable.
Mechanised tunnelling (TBM): Operating stateof-the-art tunnel boring machines, both soft
ground EPB (Earth Pressure Balance) and hard
rock types for rapid progress on long drives.
Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL): Delivering SCL
specialists capable of constructing complex
geometries in variable ground conditions.
Shaft sinking: Experienced crews adept at both
conventional caisson sinking and mechanised shaft
construction techniques.
Pipe jacking and microtunnelling: Providing
teams skilled in trenchless methods for utility
installations beneath existing infrastructure.
